Being the only medical officer on a starship often far away from any kind of medical institution, Bones was often the only factor that decided the life or death of anyone on the ship. Much like anyone sitting on the Iron Throne, whoever sits on it gets to decide who lives and who dies in the Seven Kingdoms.
